80 million lenses Canon

Canon announced, produced 80 million EF lens. This threshold could be exceeded in the nine months following the announcement in October 2011 about 70 million lenses produced.

Production of EF lenses began in March 1987 and coincided with the presentation of the first SLR Canon's factory in Utsunomiya. Over the past 25 years, the line has been developed lenses and improved, offering innovative technologies such as the world's first ultrasonic motor (USM) and Image Stabilizer (IS), but also multi-layered diffractive optical elements and Structure Subwavelength coating (SWC). There are already 76 different models of lenses. As a complement to the line EF lenses and EF-S series, developed specifically for use with digital SLR cameras, Canon introduced the film lenses with a resolution of 4K. In July of this year, Canon announced the launch of a new series of EF-M, which were created as part of the EOS system M.

Since the start of production in 1987, Canon has expanded its operations considerably, opening a total of four production facilities.
